Coventry Cathedral is one of the great architectural highlights in the Midlands, despite that I hadn't actually taken the time to visit for years. I thought I'd try my luck and swing by one weekend on the way home from Birmingham.
The new structure was designed by British architect Sir Basil Spence in 1950, his design was succesfully selected from over 200 applicants as part of a competition! Who'd have thought. The new cathedral was finally concecrated in 1962 and stands as a symbol of peace and reconcilliation in the city.
Due to the huge windowed entrance the light flooding the building in a spectaular fashion. There was only one solitary figure sat in the pews who became the focus of my short photo story.
