Saint-Tropez (Part 1)

“Nothing happens when you sit at home. I always make it a point to carry a camera with me at all times…I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.” – Elliott Erwitt

One of my favourite Magnum photographers Elliott Erwitt has a wonderful collection of black and white images taken during his time in Saint-Tropez. When I realised I was going there during my week long break in the south of France I knew that a pack of Kodak 400TX would be essential.

Exploring the narrow, tourist infested streets it was blisteringly hot, weaving in and out of the sharp shadows I had to constantly keep adjusting my adjusting my settings. There were a few occasions where going for the highlights resulted in a nice contrasty image.

I'll be going back next year to continue this collection.
